PARENTS MATTER COALITION LAUNCHES EFFORT TO PUT ILLINOIS PARENTS’ RIGHTS ON THE BALLOT IN 2024
(CHICAGO, IL) – – On Monday, October 16, the Parents Matter Coalition officially launched a statewide effort to put parents’ rights on the ballot in 2024 in Illinois.
The Parents Matter Coalition – a project of Illinois Right to Life Action – was formed by a group of Illinois residents who believe that minor children require the guidance of their parents, particularly when faced with life-altering medical decisions.
“Minors often need parent permission – to get their ears pierced, to go on field trips, and to purchase medication, for example. It is common sense that they should also require parental consent when making major medical decisions, like the decision to take hormone blockers or to obtain an abortion,” said Mary Kate Zander, spokesperson for the Parents Matter Coalition. “For the vast majority of parents, this is a no-brainer. That’s why we believe this initiative will receive widespread support.”
The Petition for Submission proposes an Advisory Question of Public Policy on the Right to Parent, which states:
Shall the written consent from a minor’s parent or guardian be required before any entity, person, clinic or school can provide a minor (under the age of 18 years) any non-emergency medical procedure, medication, pharmaceutical, or any gender modification procedure, gender identification counseling or gender therapy?
Should the effort receive the required number of signatures, the question will appear on the ballot on Election Day in 2024.
Your child will be asked to participate in a voluntary survey called the Illinois Youth Survey. There is one for 6th through 8th graders and a separate, but similar one for high school students. The survey asks questions about gender, drug use, suicide and family dynamics.
The state says the purpose of which is to better understand Illinois youth risk and protective behaviors as they relate to students and their success. They have partnered with the University of Illinois Center for Prevention Research and Development for administering this survey. The data can be accessed by school administration and the center itself.
Many believe the purpose of this survey is an overreach of government and is an invasion into students' mental and physical health, while others are concerned with who will be using this data and for what purpose.
Are school administrators really the optimal group to delve into children's mental health? Or should that be left up to actual Mental Health Professionals that are available though your insurance plans.
Parents, you do have the right to opt-out.
The Transformation Initiative, touted by J. B. Pritzker, is the public act that is RECOMMENDING a new mental health screening what will be phased into use throughout Illinois schools starting Fall 2024.
This mental health screening that exemplifies the CDC's WSCC model known as "whole school, whole community, whole child" where communities and schools become robust government networks and healthcare settings.
In its wake, schools will continue to shift away from focusing on academics and preparing our children for life beyond school to merely focusing on political agendas.

We are a committed group of concerned D211 parents who are discouraged by the direction our school district is heading. Through attending countless school board meetings and being active in our schools, we have acquired the knowledge and tools to advise the community and lead the effort to restore parents’ rights, student success, and fiscal responsibility in our district. Join us in our efforts!
We will be providing recommendations on board candidates who align with our position on key issues.
C4KE's mission is to empower parents and students, and engage the community on D211’s role in educational success, student well-being, and fiscal responsibility. We will provide support to D211 candidates who align with our stated goals.
